Volvo Launches Xc60: Luxury Sedan Car in Indian Market

Volvo XC60, expected to be launched in India in the first half of the year, is the first vehicle in a new generation of the contemporary cross-over segment. The Volvo XC60 brings together all the safety knowledge the company has built up over more than 80 years – making it one of the safest car across all categories.

According to Paul de Voijs, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India, "As a concentrated step towards building our brand in India, in the first two years, we focussed our efforts towards laying a strong foundation. 2010 is the year wherein we will strengthen our position further and the launch of Volvo XC60 is a step in that direction."

Volvo XC60 steps boldly into what is the motoring world's toughest and fastest-growing segment. Boasting an exciting mix of two car styles - down below the capable XC muscles are pumped up, creating a strong athletic body mated with high ground clearance and large wheels. Up above, the flowing lines create the sporty charisma.

"With the launch of Volvo XC60, we're widening our model range to attract even more customers with an active urban lifestyle. This car is for a target group that imposes high demands on design, brand integrity and high-tech content in its choice of lifestyle products", further added Mr. de Voijs.

Volvo India Rolls Out S80 Sedan @ Rs 38.79 Lakhs

Volvo has made a fast start to the New Year by sharpening its diesel offering for the Indian market. The refreshed Volvo S80 for model year 2010 has an even tougher and exclusive design than before, while providing top-class fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, performance coupled with Volvo's signature safety features. The latest generation D5 Twin-Turbo diesel engine takes performance, fuel efficiency and refinement to entirely new levels. All this reinforces the model's position in the premium sedan segment and satisfies customers with high demands.

Delighted with the enhanced technology, Paul de Voijs, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India, said, "Sometimes a subtle 'hum' is more powerful than a roar. The D5 engine has several advanced technical features. With the latest Twin Turbo and Peizo high-pressure technology, the inspiring five-cylinder state -of-art will be high on performance and low on fuel consumption to a record low for a car in this class. A maintenance free diesel particulate filter effectively reduces soot particles in exhaust gases and advanced emission control contributes to low nitrogen oxide level – the new D5 already comply with stringent, upcoming Euro 5 exhaust emission requirements. Volvo is the only car company in India to offer the DPF feature across all its diesel models from the beginning of its operations in the country.

All-new five-cylinder diesel engine
The driving experience in the refreshed Volvo S80 has been elevated with an entirely new twin-turbo five-cylinder 2.4-litre diesel. The new D5 engine offers 205 horsepower, 420 Nm of torque over a very wide range of engine revs. The Fuel consumption and CO2 emission for the car stands at 13.1 kmpl and 203gms/km respectively – a record-low figure for a car of this size and performance level. This state-of-the-art engine delivers a plush drive.

Sports Car Volvo XC90 Prices Cut by 4 Lakh : Volvo India

NEW DELHI: Luxury car maker Volvo Car India on Thursday said it has cut the prices of its flagship sports utility vehicle XC90 by Rs 4 lakh to boost sales amidst the current economic downturn.

Volvo XC90 Sports CarThe XC90 D5 will now come at Rs 42.5 lakh, while the XC90 32 and XC90 V8 would be available for Rs 43.5 lakh and Rs 49.5 lakh, respectively.

"In lieu with current economic scenario and to provide luxury at right price, the prices for the flagship model Volvo XC90 SUV has been reduced by 7-8.5 per cent with effect from July 9," Volvo Car India said in a statement.

The company also announced opening of new dealerships at Pune and Chennai, taking the total number of dealerships in the country to seven.

"The expansion of our dealer network signals the importance of the Indian market to Volvo Cars. We believe that India holds tremendous potential for our brand and want to make sure that we fully capitalise on the opportunities available...," Volvo Car India MD Paul de Voijs said.

Recently, other car makers including Hindustan Motors, Ford India, Honda Siel Cars India and Hyundai Motor India had announced price cuts of Rs 6,000 on some of their models following additional duty excise reduction announced by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee during the Budget on July 6.
